The introduction is free, there is no obligation, and there is no construction relationship between this site and you. Four steps, in this order.

Step 1: you tell us the problem and the size

A leak, missing or lifted shingles, storm damage, a roof that is simply old, a hot second storey, or shingles curling at the ridge - plus the approximate size of the house and the town you are in. If you already have a written quote in hand, send that too.

You do not need to know whether you want a repair or a replacement. That is exactly what the contractor works out from looking at the roof, and it is not a decision this site makes or can make.

Step 2: we introduce licensed contractors who work your part of Kern County

We match on two things: whether the contractor's crews cover the area you gave us, and whether the kind of work your problem involves is work they do. We match across Bakersfield and the surrounding Kern County towns - Rosedale, Oildale, Shafter, Wasco, Delano, Lamont, Arvin, Tehachapi, Taft, Ridgecrest, McFarland, Buttonwillow and Bear Valley Springs - so the contractor you are introduced to is one whose crews actually work your side of the county.

The standard is the state's, not ours. Roofing in California is a licensed trade: the contractor holds a C-39 licence from the Contractors State License Board, and the licence number, status, classification and bond are free to check at cslb.ca.gov. We tell you to run that check yourself rather than take anyone's word for it, and to ask for a certificate of insurance.

Step 3: the contractor gives you the scope and the priced quote

The contractor looks at the roof, measures it, and writes the scope: repair or replacement, how many squares, what is torn off, the material proposed, the permit, and the price for each part. That written quote is the only figure that applies to your roof - the published ranges on this site describe the market, not your job.

A quote worth comparing itemises the measured size in squares, tear-off and disposal, underlayment, flashing, ridge venting, the permit fee and who is pulling the permit, the product warranty, the contractor's own workmanship warranty, and the C-39 licence number.

Step 4: you decide, and the introduction costs you nothing

Read the quote away from the visit. Nothing is booked until you agree to it, and if the introduction is not right, tell us and we will suggest another contractor who covers your area. There is no charge for the introduction.

And the limit of this site's role, plainly: we do not roof houses. We do not inspect roofs, we do not install or repair anything, we do not decide the scope and we do not guarantee anybody's work. The scope, the schedule and the priced quote come from the contractor you are introduced to, and the workmanship warranty is theirs to give in writing.

Frequently asked questions

Is this site a roofing company?

No. It is an independent matching service. It does not roof houses, does not inspect roofs, does not install or repair anything and does not guarantee anyone's work. It introduces homeowners to licensed roofing contractors who cover their part of Kern County, and the scope and the priced quote come from the contractor.

What does the introduction cost me?

Nothing. There is no charge for the introduction and no obligation to use any contractor you are introduced to. The paid figure is the one on the contractor's own quote for the work.

How many contractors will contact me?

One or more, depending on your town and what the job involves. The match is made on whether the contractor's crews work your area and whether they do that kind of roof work, so you are not being routed to someone who does not cover your town.

What if the first contractor is not right for me?

Say so and we will suggest another one who covers your area, at no charge. Nothing is booked until you agree to it, and you are free to check the licence number at cslb.ca.gov, ask for insurance, and get a second quote before deciding anything.
